Can linux be installed on a PS2 model-70001 with HDD?

Post by alucard_yk »

Hi!
I have a PS2 model-70001 and I have modified it with a HDD.Now I want to know whether I can install linux OS on it ? If it is feasible, how can I do or what are the different steps between the FAT and slim PS2 ?

Thank you!

I'm sorry for my poor English!

I don't know if this works. There could be problems with the network.
For this configuration the installation steps are similar, but you need to enable slim PSTwo support (intrelay-direct-rpc.irx) and use the kernel:

This is still the test version.

Thx.
It seems that 70001 has a internal ethernet card. And my HDD is directly connected to the main board without ethernet card ,not like the Fat PS2.

Besides, what is the "intrelay-direct-rpc.irx" and which version of the "vmlinux.gz" you have given?

The interrupts are not working on the slim PSTwo, so the module simulates it using rpc messages. The module can be selected in the configuration of the kernelloader.
The vmlinux.gz supports this type of interrupt.

Get it, thank you very much!
