Password recovery with the PS3 and Linux

Post by khalil »

Hi All,

I have recently bought a PS3 and would like to use it for password recovery on zip (and maybe other files such as rar, pdf, office, etc).

As such, I would like to know:

1. What flavour of Linux would be best for this? Research seems to point to Fedora Core 7 with IBM Cell SDK 3.0. Is this correct?

2. What is the best open source password recovery software is available out there that can be compiled to use the 6 SPUs?

3. Where can I find resources that are relevant to this?

If any of you already has experience of this, any advice or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance. Regards,

Khalil.

You might check out http://www.epitech.eu/v4/perso/~bevand_ ... -1.tar.bz2 It is a PS3 optimiized brute force password cracke by Marc Bevand. The salt must be compiled into the program which checks passwords from 0 to 8 characters from SPACE 0x.20 to TILDE 0x7e.
