PS3 OS HDD Games & Programs Booting

Post by MARFY »

Sorry for starting another thread but i wish to discuss the possibilities or the potential of an nice OS on the PS3.

Since PS3 will have an OS (Yellow Dog) that is much based on Fedore Core 5 does that mean it will be able to run GTAIII, VC & SA, and therefore SA:MP, VC:MP and MTASA from its HDD?

How about programs like MUGEN and other emulators compatible with the linux OS?

This sounds way to cool because I like modding games but dont like playing em on my PC.

Also, if having the true functions of a OS would that mean that online play is possible with games on the HDD just like a PC does?

PS3 Blu-Ray discs will not load under Linux on ps3.

There is scurrentl no 3d acceleration under ps3 linux. but ther is a framebuffer device, as well as audio an controller support, so ps3 linux games can be written.

Also tere's a dirver for the ps3's network card, normla wi fi, and bluetooth, as well as the USB. SO you can use any usb game controller.

Will an acellerated x server and opengl ICD be written? perhaps. but Sony will need to approve it.
