Idea: Surfing the internet a la "Minority Report"

Post by FreeFighter »

Ok it's not my idea, i got it from here: http://forums.e-mpire.com/showthread.php?t=56844

When homebrew on the PS3 will be possible, it would be a huge project with lots of features. Hopefully there will be access to all these abilities like motion sensing, eyetoy2 and headset.

I read the above thread and immediatly thought of ps2dev. If there's any homebrew scene that can build an SDK to access all these things, it's ps2dev.org.

To summarize all that's been talked about:
  • The eyetoy can capture the movements.
  • Using a glove for motion sensing, instead of mouse or controller.
  • Voice recognition (headset) instead of keyboard to enter data (url. etc). PSP Talkman game comes to mind: "The pronunciation game is a lot harder, since it requires you to verbally repeat phrases in the given language. How do you talk to your PSP? Simple: Talkman ships with a small microphone that plugs into the top I/O port on the system. In this mode, Max will read a phrase aloud (with the English equivalent displayed onscreen), and then you have to repeat it with nearly pitch-perfect accuracy. What do you guys think?
  • Possible in the long run with a stable SDK etc... And when we know what we can do with the "homebrew" Sony is talking about.
  • Something for next-gen.
  • Never gonna happen.

With the right libraries, you can do all this today on a PC.
The PS3 is not some kind of magic machine.

Pointless, or at least off-topic, thread.
