How would i go about...

Post by JordanQ »

Putting an operating system on my ps2?

i don't want to "build" or do anything like that, i would just like to be able to run linux, mac, or windows, with a possible internet connection.

Thanks all, and might i say what an admirable site you host.

Buy a copy of Sony's PS2 linux.. actually, Sony doesn't stock it anymore, so you'd have to find at copy on eBay or something. It only works on the Phat PS2.

Other than that, you're SOL. Anything else requires "building" as you put it.

really, theres no way around the whole, "not free" thing?

i have an operating system that i am not currently using.

(one i can burn onto a disc)

but thats as far as I've gotten, is there any "special" things that i must do, before i can just plop the disc into my ps2 and boot it up?

P.S. If it helps, i already have a way to boot unsigned code.

I didn't edit my post at all. If you see something different, you read it wrong the first time. :)

If you have a way to run stuff on the PS2, there's a thread on linux in the PS2 section that involves almost no building that you might try.

http://forums.ps2dev.org/viewtopic.php? ... sc&start=0

Read through that.
