PSP PS3 remote control feature?

Post by thomas_fogh »

Hi,
Has anyone found out, how to use the new PS3 firmware 2.20 feature to remote control the PS3 using the PSP? (Or am I a bit impatient? ;) )
I was making a MPD client to remote control mp3 playback, but if I could use the new feature, that might be better.

It's remote play.
The only new thing in 2.20 is that the audio can come out of a different place.

Well, that's what I want! :)
But I guess we can't write homebrew to take advantage of remote play :( or am I mistaken?

See http://forums.ps2dev.org/viewtopic.php?t=8515.
As far as I know, nobody has figured out remote play yet. I expect that with enough reversing we could figure out how to do the PSN signon and emulate remote play from another system. However, there is always the chance that the protocol requires the PSP to sign a challenge from the PS3 or PSN using the Kirk, which we wouldn't be able to emulate without an actual PSP.

Thanks! I think I'll just continue working on my MPD client...
