@jacky400: I think I won't be able to download the file in reasonable time (>24hrs already) :(. If you would make just a short clip out of it ~10-20MB...

@EEUG

i cut down the original movie into 26 Mb for you :) something want to ask u ,can SMS GUI support higher resolution like 800x600 or above ? (i think it is limited by ps2 hardware )

@bix64

Just tried your second version of SMS setup,i think when the subtitle function come ,you cam add an option "Subtitle : CHoise On or Off" :)

Is it possible implement function to change the color of border of SMS GUI under SMS setup menu (now active borderis while,inactive border is red )

yeah it filters, like ps2reality does after all, but this makes high resolutions unplayable :(

Hello.
I would like to know if you can make a tutorial wich explains step by step how to create a CDDAF (for an unmodified PS2), because I don't understand the readme very well.

Thanks.

1. Download CDXplorer.exe from SVN;
2. Launch it on Windows;
3. Drag/drop the files you want from Windows explorer to the
application (or use '+' toolbar button);
4. Save your compilation - you'll get cue/bin file pair;
5. Close the application;
6. Launch CD burning application (I use Nero);
7. Open generated cue file;
8. If you use Nero 5 then select Disk-at-once/96 option;
9. Burn it;

Good luck
Eugene

P.S. If you have a DVD burner you can also play .avi files
stored on DVD-video disks (just record short DVD/mpeg clip
on them also to get such a disks authorized by PS2);

EEUG: I've tried the afor-mention instructions, but I can get it to do anything (I have an unmodified PS2, SCHP-39001). All I get in the PS2 browser is and Audio CD with two tracks. 1 track is empty, the other one squeels.

What am I doing wrong?

@reeeky2001: You appear to be trying to to play the audio tracks without loading SMS. The disc should contain just 2 audio tracks. Track 1 is very short, track 2 contains your data. If you just try to play them as audio, then you will hear squeels. This is normal.

You need to first launch SMS.ELF (via exploit or whatever means), then once its running, press eject and put your CDDAFS CD-R in the drive. Then you'll be able to browse to the avi files. The CD won't be any use unless you put it in the PS2 while SMS is running.

The user manual contains instructions for what you are trying to do:

Nice work -- just discovered this player. As it looks very promising, I will most probably check that out today when I get home.

One question though: lately I've been playing around with MythTV -- wouldn't it be interesting if SMS could implement MythTV's 'protocol' in order to act as a frontend for it?

Just thinking out loud because that would actually be really cool...

@m4d: ...yes, it can be cool. I think, that mpeg1/2 decoder must be implemented on PS2 side first (and also jpeg etc.), otherwise there's no real use of it. Feel free, however, to fiddle with SMS's code :)...

I've had a (very!) quick look at this, and if you grab the source to mythfrontend, from memory it looks like there is ps2linux specific asm instructions, so perhaps some of the work has been already done?
Damn, I need a decent signature!

...I've looked at it :). Looks quite familiar. That's just "old" ffmpeg code. Most parts of it is in use in SMS (in quite a modified form)...

Where to find SMS news...

Post by aalku7 »

EEUG, is this the place where I should expect SMS updates, changelogs, etc? or Where should I go to find them?
Thank's for doing SMS.

Hi, I'm curious: does SMS support mpeg4 codec FMP4 anytime soon ? This is the standard recommended mpeg4 codec for mencoder in Linux. It seems to have the best quality, and I have a bunch of AVIs encoded in this codec.

..."anytime soon" will be release with remote control support. Then I'm finally going to vacations, so I'll probably return to SMS coding in the autumn...

Ow! remote control support would be fantastic.

BTW, I took one of my FMP4-coded avi and use the command:

mencoder in.avi -ovc copy -avc copy -ffourcc DX50 -o out.avi

which copies all the video and audio streams from in.avi to out.avi, and rename the 4CC to DX50. The resulting file out.avi is PLAYABLE by SMS. So it seems, the only thing SMS needs to do is to recognize the "FMP4" name. Since many of my DivX is stored in DVDR, it would be a pain for me to modify and reburn them.

One more wish item: I have a HDTV. It would be nice if SMS supports HDTV modes besides the standard NTSC 640x448. Dominantly, all my DivX are of the size 640x480.

Hi,

I finally have my PS2 modded with the DUO 3 GT chip, so that I can launch SMS directly without ARMAX and disc swaps. However, SMS cannot read the divx files stored on DVDR anymore (sometimes SMS says "illegal disc", sometimes, it doesn't say anything, but it doesn't see any files on the DVDR neither) . Can anybody here help me ? I'll greatly appreciate it.
