X-windows on the TV.

Post by GhostWolf1985 »

I'm wondering if some one could start looking in to the possibility to make a X-windows server on PS2 that dosen't need Linux, VGA adapter or a hardrive (want it to run on a psTWO). I know that vnc might be easier but I'm trying to avoid the resolution problems that might occur. ssh suport is welcome but not neccesary, a virtual keyboard like yabasics is wellcome.

I'm no programmer so I can't do it my self unfortunaly.
Regards

If this happens, and I doubt it will, you'd probably end up having to use a USB keyboard, not a virtual one.

I really doubt this will happen though, unless some significant money is thrown at the right developers (of which I am NOT one; giving me money for PS2 development would just get you prettier hello worlds, heh)

FYI, the Linux kit does come with an X server, and it does run on a PAL/NTSC display (not just VGA). Looks like crap, IMHO, but there you go. You mentioned that want it to run without Linux or the HDD, but the Linux kit's codebase might be a good starting point.

(Whenever I see the expression "I'm no programmer," I always wonder what the poster has in mind...)
