Post by pegasus »

well i noticed that too when i used -sid

i have also the progressive NTSC

so far i havent got a work around, maybe it's the player issue?

try using the latest 1.02 build see if its ok..

i have also encoded full movies of my DVDs mostly progressive NTSC and i use -slang en. i have never encountered audio problems

if i'm right then theres something wrong with the player..

i will test it probably tonight.. or tommorow

so it's the -sid option?...odd.
i've just tried out the new PMP player and the audio is still out of sync.
i'm not quite sure it's the -sid option cause i made a test file without subtitles enabled, and the audio is still out of sync.

update: i've tried the same DVD with default settings...no exttra options, and still no audio sync. the sync is pretty bad too, i've never had it this bad before.

yesterday i have tried different player and encodes here's what i get
DVD: Legend of Zorro

i use orig jonnys pmp player 2.00, pmp player 1.02 argandona with ataruz, and orig modified 2.00 pmp player

my video file has the same settings.. filenamed zorro200.pmp , zorro102.pmp and zorro102remuxto200.pmp with -sid 0 (becoz -slang en didnt work)

all have audio desync (i wonder why). All videos starting on chapter 11 -endpos 30secs

but when i start chapter 5 with same settings, no audio desync???

so the problem is the source DVD after all?? or the encoder??

hmm....

here's more of what i did.
oddly enough, Volume 1 of DVD Ghost in the Shell doesn't use Progressive Scan and i do not lose sync when PMP Simple Settings are set to default.

but, still losing sync with Volume 2 DVD Ghost in the Shell that uses Progressive Scan...with PMP Simple Settings set to default.

i tried changing the -ofps to 29, that didn't work.
i tried fiddling around with Extra Video options, that didn't work.
i tried not using the -sid option and leaving everything as default, that didn't work.
i might try changing mp3 bitrate, who knows.

are there any Mencoder Pros (not saying you're not a pro, Pegasus) out there that might have any input on this issue?

hrm, i haven't thought of AVC format. i can play it now too, now that emulated FWs have become possible 8)

are you running AVC on an emulated FW?

if so, what program are you using, i onlyhave Datel's PSP Max Media Manager.
i'm about to fiddle with it now.
