Couple other things I wanted to add:
Can you give the analog stick more precision? It still feels 8-way and makes it tricky to accurately dodge bullets.
I noticed on the first level, when there is the trunk that some enemies shoot out of, if you pilot your ship past it, your ship appears over the trunk, but the shots appear under the trunk. This looks a little odd.
It'd also be nice to have longer name support (as my name is quite long), but if you don't want to do that to keep the online database small, then I understand.

I'll also shamelessly offer my services as a beta tester if you require one ^_^

Also, how secure is your scores file to 'tampering'?

currently we don't have anything to test, but i'll hook you both up if that changes. thx for the offer

and thx for the bug report with the tree, i'll look into that.

well, good question :) there are some checksums to verify the score file wasn't altered. but everybody with a bit of serious knowledege could of course easily reverse the responsible functions.

edit: and that's no invitation to try it folks ;)
