Can not Load Harddisk and my Intro

Post by Sparkz^ »

Hello all (my intro)
I am new to the boards and thought I might wave a hand,
And as I am new I hope to learn as I lurk

My back round;
Master Electrician (retired)
20 year Electrical Contractor
Automated machine control,
Heavy power & Lighting
Built every Computer I have ever owned
Battled all software installed and run on those machines. LOL
Good mechanic and fair machinist

I do have a question
My son has (3) PS-2 older ones (2) ver.6 and (1) ver.7
We are (he and I) are playing with the internals we have installed a 80 GB harddisk by way of the network adapter (we bought one of the machines Scph-5xxxx (ver.7) w/ LAN-combo adapter off e-bay it was unopened with tamper tape intact)
We have found a harddisk loading progie. WINHIIP ver. 1.7.6 and loaded a few of his games by way of IDE cable from one of our (XP-Pro) PCs,
Put it all back in the known to work PS2 and can not see the hard drive
Since that we have a back-up & hard drive progie ordered (HDAdvance) hoping that it might make it a bit easier for him to work with and play with (he’s 11 years but he has built a few PC from scratch with me, and repaired lots of solid state stuff so I hope to get him into more with this his own stuff)

The question/s I have are;
Do we need to find an OEM driver for that network adapter?
Or is there a home brew for the adapter?
Can we use our 5e cabled network (Static) and load his games as
well as other home brews from PC to PS2?
Might someone know where we might download and needed software to “see the HD”?
There’s a whole host of questions we have but we hope to do lots of reading on this site and find those answers.

I/we hope to use one of these machines to learn both hardware and some programming
Thankz for taking time to read my first post
My son and I look forward to any help you “guys in the know” may give
So as you might see I and my son are not as advanced as most of you
but he is very interested and dedicated and I am also driven to help him get and keep his project moving
Again thank you all for any and all help

Sparkz

Note;
WINHIIP is a HDL Image install Program run on host PC (at this time)
