I've downloaded it again.
Same size (121 362 161 bytes) and
same md5 hash : e384b5734e6719d98bcf907600ceab69
The file on their server seems to be stable and unzippable...

Thanks, mgillespie. Always nice to see pre-built stuff to try. But... Tried winrar, winzip or 7z and got "unsupported compression method 99" (I talk about PS3EasyLinux.zip size: 121 362 161 bytes) Is password one of these (I've tried them without success)? st0rmbr1nger mgillespie Firble (i...

Pads are tricky on the PS2... Too lazy to study/debug your method, but here is a last resort sample, if you need to compare with a working small menu (method nearly identical to the one used in SMS, if I remember correctly, since I learn most of PS2 stuff by studying SMS source) : http://home.tele2....

Security is tight in PS3. HV code is isolated. I don't think any hacker ever found a way to dump it from a running PS3. The other way would be to uncrypt a firmware update file. We probably miss a public key or two to do that, secured tightly in PS3 as well... Or I may be wrong. You still need fw<2....

I don't think it's a mistake. Not even a little bit. Higher Sony ranks decided officialy (between them) to shutdown anything discovered that may make PS3 appear as a good computer (their new policy since when Kutagari got removed). But they never do any announcement, or reply to public explanation r...

I'll try to answer you by gathering what have been done so far : Thanks to IronPeter, you get control over 70% of the power of a Nv40 GPU (named RSX) on PS3's with firmwares < 2.10 (if you have 2.10 or above you have no GPU under your control, only a 2D space that is sent to screen every frame by H...

Yes, no more BD-J running from USB media. Your conclusion is correct. Current Sony bosses are silly. They are secretly panicking, seeing PS3 as the third competitor on market. Their solution is to promote PS3 as a game console only. It's then logical (for them) to shut down anything that may make th...

To have the 2.01 pup files may help those between 2.10 and under 2.17 but requires soldering skills to damage a specific area of fw to force it accept the pup files and actually downgrade. At 2.17 and above pup files won't help you. Hardware KNOWS what you will attempt to do and SONY disagrees with ...

Sony has closed RSX access in fw 2.10, remain UNDER that fw version if you dream about programming RSX yourself (if you have luck there should still be some ps3's with fw 2.01 out of the box on shelves in europe for example the 40Gb+uncharted drake fortune+prostreet bundle) At 2.10 or above, you sho...

I can do a ps2 program that displays stuff at 60fps, no more than that. Then if you tell me a LCD will miss half the frames (and thus only show 30fps) then I would be very estonished... You can change a line in this source in order to get a frame counter : http://home.tele2.fr/~fr-51785/ps2_initial_...

later in the tutorial you see :

append="video=ps3fb:mode:4 rhgb quiet root=LABEL=/"

(instead of 4 put the value that matches the best your configuration)

So just try 37 instead of 4 and see what happens

to get ps3-linux, first compile git utility if you don't have it already
then

ppc stands for 'powerpc', the name of the generic family of processors the first part of Cell, the PS3 CPU (the part named PPU or PPE), belongs to. There are other parts named SPU or SPE, but they are for specialists and hide the potential power of the PS3. Anything ported to PS3, almost instantly, ...
