Since Sony has made it clear that their HDD is upgradeable, I doubt they will rely on drive-specific protection measures. More likely the encryption is done by the system like they do on PS2.

"General Development" forum?

what about adding another forum for "General Development"? For example topics which cross platforms. I've got a MIPS-related question that could be answered by either PSP or PS2 guys but would have to cross-post to be sure it's seen by someone with an answer..

padx works for me, though I suspect it's still a bit fucked. I don't think the "init" RPC call it makes is really init, for one. I don't know what the data area it sets up is for but I suspect this is more of an "open" call... maybe if I get bored one day I'll finish sorting it, ...

seriously bad bug in padman rpc

I've been noticing some weird behavior for a while but haven't been able to track it down until now. Something was overwriting 0x80000000-0x800000FF on EE with what seemed to be garbage. After eliminating causes I finally tracked it down to the padman rpc in ps2sdk, mainly the "padx" versi...

tcpip-1.1.1(what you're refering to as "tcpip" in your uLE project...) uses lwip-1.1.1, not the old lwip. I made very few changes to tcpip to make "tcpip-1.1.1" other than linking it with lwip-1.1.1 instead of the old lwip. A "diff" isn't going to help in this situation...

"Warning: ignoring changed section attributes for .text

Does anyone know how to suppress this warning when compiling IRXes with GCC 3.2.2? I hate having it show up, I have a tendency to miss other warnings when they're mixed in with this.

well, what I propose isn't really that dramatic. Mostly I want to make PS2link more modular, having it use seperate libraries/modules for some things rather than containing it's own tty/host/debug stuff. I wouldn't want to break compatibility with existing clients, or even change the protocols and s...

ps2ftp and a couple other things(devfs.irx?) do some crappy hacks to get the device list. I imagine these probably got broken when I made changes iomanX, but I don't think reverting back to fix compatability with hacky code is a good idea. Personally, I would suggest that you change ps2ftpd to use t...

evilo: The CDVD driver Pixel mentioned was likely "CDVDDRVR" that I generated from reversing CDVDMAN and splitting the ISO9660 stuff off into a seperate module. So I have CDVDDRVR.IRX and ISOFS.IRX. I've never released them because the code is ugly and several of the functions are untested...

I would suggest disassembling MCMAN since it's capable of reading/writing PS1 cards. I assume you mean reading the flash memory directly instead of going through the file system layer?

The BIOS is "sort of" authorized.. 18k+(perhaps only v1+) use ROMVER from the BIOS to unlock the drive on startup. That's really only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to making a completely custom BIOS. Also, please don't ask me for specifics on this process as I don't want to piss off...

I think the ribbon you're talking about is the eject/power button cable. This should plug into the power button assembly.

Unless you tore the cable it should be fine once you reconnect.

to add to what jbit said, I guarantee you'll run into problems since the kernel has some delay loops which assume the EE is running at a specific speed. at the very least this will mess up video output.

I don't see why you'd need permission from SuccessHK(makers of Swap Magic). Not only do they not respect other people's copyrights, you're not really including their software or anything like that.

Getting permission from mrbrown would be a polite thing to do though.
