So, now we can extract the firmware easily I take it -- just read the entire contents of lflash to a file. But flashing a 1.5 is still a ways off unfortunately as we can't run any code to perform the flash and it looks like its impossible to tweak a Sony update to include our own flash :(

Flash isn't really easy to write too, blocks get erased and written again.
In this case it is, since its a filesystem... assuming its writable, of course.

It would be easiest to first test this by trying to copy data off the memory stick to itself.

I take it we can now use this to find the keys or a way to run on 1.5. Also, it should be possible to dump the 1.0 firmware (though it may not be very useful).

Jeez, why doesn't Sony just support this! They'd get a lot more credit and support that way -- this way they just lose.

Yes, but this is ffmpegX... but I wonder if there is a parameter for ffmpeg itself to add a track when there isn't one, ie. force an audio track. Because from what I can tell, there is no reliable way to check whether a particular video has an audio track or not (non-interactively) :-/

Converting video with no audio track using ffmpeg? Anyone?

Does anyone know how to get ffmpeg to convert a video without an audio track to PSP format successfully? The problem is it converts, looks fine, but on the PSP you get the "black screen" problem, and have to restart the PSP. Anyone been able to get around this using some ffmpeg options or ...

Found a new feature in the new firmware!

When you try to power the system off (put it to sleep, that is), the Power light now blinks, this is a nice additing, as before i was never sure whether I pushed the switch far enough to turn off the unit until it actually turned off, which took some time. Which brings me to another thing: looks lik...

It changes more than it lists...

Did the PSP logo splash screen on startup fade out before when a game was about to boot? I think that is new.

Movie icons are no longer showing on my PSP, only the generic video icon.

Photos seem to have changed icon-wise as well.

Anything else anyone notice?
