Ok, thanks for the input. Just wanted to see if my assumptions were correct as I'm not familiar with PS2 development at all.

On a different note.. there are some new USB drivers on this thing that look interesting....

Does anyone recognize any of this?

Just bought Talkman today, the new translator for the PSP that comes with a USB microhone, and, of course, I started looking around on the UMD and found an odd file. It looks more like stuff for the PS2 instead of the PSP: lsn %d size %d name:%d:%s %d/%d/%d %d:%d:%d %...

It's provided on the UMD and not built into the firmware. We all know this by now. The browser on the Famitsu Demo UMD is the same way. There is no psmf_http.prx file on there, but it DOES have cert.prx, and thereby, like the korean UMD, supports https. The browser on the Demo UMD is in it's own dir...

Perhaps Data.bin holds some clues

I hadn't seen anyone else approach it from this direction, but what if the data.bin in the updater EBOOT is what performs the decryption of the flashrom (data.psar) image. That way, sony could encrypt the flashes with something that would be completely seperate from the onboard "keys". Per...

I'm begining to think that the firmware does not access files within the fat "partitions" via block addresses, but via file names and handles: i.e. /<filename> If this is the case, then can someone perhaps toss a full resolution 08.bmp file into flash and see if it runs. If someone supplie...

I dont' see how this is a buffer overflow at all. All it does is check the firmware version number. After that, nothing executes. Big deal. no matter what you put inside, it won't run. I dont' see how this does anything for homebrew on 1.5+ except it gives us one more error code to add to the list.....

It really doesn't seem to me like most people are quite understanding what dreggy was proposing. This is for example purposes only: You're on a 2.0 PSP. You have modified your psp so that when you remove the memory stick, the psp doesn't know about it. (shorted a switch) You take a memory stick with...

What is happening at bootup with the memory stick?

Has anyone had a looksee at what's going on when the psp is first turned on? The psp, when first turned on, access the memory stick for about 1.5 seconds before actually booting to the firmware's opening screen. Could it be looking for a diagnostic program on the memory stick? perhaps something that...

you have to unmount before you exit usb mode on the psp or unplug the cable.

when you unmount, it syncs the filesystem, so when you unmount, there will be a few seconds of memory stick light blinking.

Then you can disconnect it.

Native PBP Unpacking Method?

Not sure if anyone has tried this yet, I haven't seen any mention on the forums: What about a psp program that reads and unpacks the pbp from a firmware update and, using the on-board prx files from the flash, decrypts the raw image and then dumps it to the memory stick? Basically, the method i'm th...
