Does'int psplink go trough the adapter with Ethernet? And the other one needs a special cable. What can I do without them?

I finally got that mod chip installed. How can I test that it works? The ps2 turns on seems to work right. I dl'ed the naplink and put it on a cd. It boots to a screen that says PlayStation and stops there. Is that all its supposed to do? What can I use to test if the chip works?

sorry if i sound stuped but can someone make a psp tiff guide.
What i mean is to make your own tiff games/apps for the 2.whatever psp.(the one that tiff games work on i.e 2.8)

Or has some one made a guide. If so where can I find it.
