Depends on what firmware version the EU models ship with imho :D
It's extremely likely that the EU models will ship with 2.00 preinstalled (or possibly even higher if there are further firmware releases between now and September).

The only difference is the warranty (mandatory 2 year warranty vs. 6 months warranty). Surely you mean mandatory 1 year warranty vs. no warranty at all? Imported products' warranties are not usually honoured unless the retailer/website you bought them from are prepared to handle it for you, and as ...

Re: Sony 2.0 firmware update

I am already stuck at 1.51, so I am likely to upgrade for the features... Me also, I think. AVC is also known as H.264, the new 'higher quality' codec that currently performs exceptionally well at very low bitrates (even x264 already beats out XviD at the 200-500kbps range). Are there any usable H....

So if I get this right, it may be that the SonicStage transfer software is the cause of the problem, and that updating it to 3.2 will enable playback of Attrac3Plus files even on current OS PSPs (1.0, 1.5, 1.51, 1.52) ? Or am I completely mistaken? It seems likely that you will need to update both ...

Hmm, I just checked it with another translation engine and it seems you're right, it now supports Pro Duo. Cool!

I've asked this before and not gotten an answer, it also tells you flat out on the MemoryStick.com website that Pro and Pro Duo can't use Atrac3.. I've no idea why.

Sony 2.0 firmware update

Sony Japan just announced the details of the upcoming 2.0 firmware update which is apparently coming out on the 27th: Network: Internet browser was added. (Doesn't yet support Macromedia Flash, some webpages will not be displayed correctly) Video: Jump function was added (UMD Video and UMD Music). A...

It will happen. It would be nice if it would happen sooner rather than later, and it would also be good if we didn't have groups like Team Xecuter claiming that they found a way to do it but decided not to release that information and instead leave it to secretive groups like WAB and PsP-DeV (the s...

The 1.51 DATA.PSAR file has a size of 10,682KB, while the 1.52 DATA.PSAR has file has a size of 10,044KB. This means that Sony has removed something since 1.51. Also, the DATA.PSP files are like that as well. 1.51's DATA.PSP file is 3,618KB while 1.52's DATA.PSP file is 3,594KB. This is an erroneou...

There's only one reason to upgrade to 1.50, and that's if you want to be able to play a UMD game that requires it. If you're not interested in that, don't upgrade. Not only will it make it so you have to use the exploit to run homebrew, but it will lower the value of your PSP. As a 1.0 owner you cou...

You cannot use the PSP in the same way as a PDA. When in ad-hoc mode (that's to say, the mode where no wireless router or access point is needed) the PSP can only communicate with other PSPs. If you wish to use your PSP on the Internet you will need to get either a wireless access point to connect t...

There are advantages to having a "launcher" program (though I do think it's a bit silly that they felt the need to put a fake BIOS screen on it, and they might get in trouble for using trademarked logos like the Energy Star and Award BIOS logo). Firstly it would mean that you wouldn't need...

There are a few problems with this idea. One is the system requirements - it does a lot of stuff in software, by the looks of it, and consequently requires a 1.3Ghz chip minimum. The PSP just doesn't have enough grunt for that. Another problem is that this would require a USB Host device, and the PS...
