Detecting multiple button presses

What's the correct way to detect if a user is pressing more than one button? I've been using the following method, which only seems to work if one button is pressed: sceCtrlPeekBufferPositive(&paddata, 1); if(paddata.Buttons & PSP_CTRL_blah & PSP_CTRL_blah2&#4...

Even if you could reflash your PSP to the original firmware, we all know that the US models shipped with 1.5. I don't think it would revert to 1.0.

(Yeah, it would work fine for people with JP PSPs, but I think US PSPs are the majority here.)
