Opening PSP Slim & Lite

Post by Wally »

Hi guys,

Could someone please clear up this cloud on how to remove the top two screws on the Slim?

I have the toolkits etc and none of the Torx screws fit, I just need to know the size or an alternative way to open the console.

I know this might not be the most appropriate place but surely someone here has opened the console..

Thanks

Ben

The top two screws? A #0 philips fits perfectly for me.

No, the screws on the top of the Slim are clearly Phillips head screws. Mine certainly are. Use a small Phillip screwdriver as stated.

Haven't paid attention to the screws on the slim until this thread, but they're philips here too.

You can't tell what they are from the photo. It needs to be clearer, or larger (preferably both).

Wally4000, it's hell to get to find the proper torx screw drivers for those 2 damn screws. The only place I found on the web which might sell small enough torx screwdrivers is http://www.wihatools.com (I'm pretty sure you'd need <T4)

For some stupid reason, some S&L PSP's have 2 microscopic torx screws around the usbport instead of the regular philips ones. This occurs (at least, for what I know, I owe one) on Crisis Core limited edition S&L PSP's, maybe on other special series, but from what I've heard, the "ordinary" ones sold in Europe are all screwed by Philip's :D

If ever you come accross the torx screwdriver which fits, please shout out the "Tx" ref, i'm sure this will save much hassle for people wanting to change MB's of IDstorage fucked up FF7CC PSP's :)

I got the US Ice Silver Daxter pack. All the screws are phillips - thank God. I'd recommend replacing those screws with phillips screws once you get them out. That way you never have to worry about them again.

My plans exactly, maybe use the ones out of the phat PSP however I may not need to open the console again.

Ok, so I suppose japs are torx freaks X°D

I think this type of micro torx screws are ment to be replaced anyway once they've been removed once. (In a technical video from Nokia explaining how to open up one of their last phones, all torx screws were NOT to be re-used)

Wally4000, keep us updated please :)

The T2 didnt fit, so it must be T1.

This time its got Philips on the top.
