If you haven't heard yet, he has stopped working on this exploit. He was using a trojan virus to try and run code through a jpeg file, well long story short the trojan blocked access to his MS and he bricked his PSP, he has since given up on coding it.

danj, the method team xecuter has developed requires a special piece of hardware that they are currently developing, its not a softmod. WAB released 2.5 loader today which is an alpha version of their upcoming 3.0 release

ugh if the hole in 1.51 is found there will be no need to downgrade that's what i have been saying. anyways, I saw everyone give up like this in the ps2 scene when we were trying to be able to play burned games that had DNAS protection online, low and behold a little less than a month later a patche...

I completely disagree, I think somewhere along the lines we will find a good technique to edit the upgrades and even if sony keeps releasing the upgrades to block exploits, someone will find a way to impliment modified firmware flashes so that they contain all the features of the newer updates but s...

someone suggested that somebody writes a script to trick the psp into thinking that the update its downloading is the newer update, I didn't quite understand his theory but it sounded a lot like the post made right before mine.

ok then how do you plan to run the homebrew version of the firmware without being able to run homebrew? also, it's all good, I get quite angry from time to time as well ;-)

yes, just download the 1.5 updater from the internet and put it in your UPDATE folder, DO NOT use network update from your PSP settings menu this will take you straight to 1.52

and the other means would be what? We already know that we cannot run the 1.50 upgrade unedited to downgrade a 1.51 psp, which means we would have to create a homebrew app to downgrade the psp with the 1.50 files

Unless anyone of you know how to get the AES key and/or signature and code your own downgrade, I am afraid we wont be downgrading anytime soon... Not true at all, I think that as soon as we find a way to access and write to the memory where the psp's system files are we can just copy and paste file...

True but making it work by way of a downgrade might be the answer. If we could run homebrew on a 1.51 to downgrade, then we wouldn't need to downgrade to run homebrew, thats what I am saying, you proved my point more, the easiest way to run homebrew isnt to make homebrew that downgrades because by ...

you guys are veering way off track here, we are trying to figure out how we can load homebrew on 1.51, downgrading the psp via homebrew is obviously not an option because you need to be able to run homebrew to do that which 1.51 can't......

I think pinhocarlos is on the write track when he says that we should figure out a way to edit the files inside of the upgrade PBP to allow writing the upgrade files of a lower firmware version than the one currently installed to the psps memory. If we can figure out how to comment out the current f...

lol mvpo.geo i love how you comment on every topic and have NO idea what you are talking about. How are you saying that adding % to the end of a folder name does nothing? Sony didn't fix the exploit by dissallowing the naming of a folder with a % sign, they dissallowed the running of unsigned code, ...

nope, won't work, sony has already thought of this. the update file for the newest firmware installs an md5 file in the psps system memory as soon as you start the update and it checks it before it copies the upgrade files I dont think we'll be able to downgrade until someone finds a way to access t...

I tried it, you didn't make any progress, like I said putting anything %n on a folder will cause your psp to crash because it is telling it to write to the memory stick progress would be getting the psp NOT to crash

no not really cause whatever you put before %n, it will still be telling the psp to write to memory which will crash it no matter what, so theres no way we will be running homebrew with anything%n attached to the end of the folder name
